Need A Hand? QLD Pty Ltd (ABN 13 698 615 164), trading as Need A Hand QLD (“we”, “us”, “our”), respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, disclose and protect your personal information when you interact with us — including through our website, by phone, SMS, email, or via our Facebook and Instagram pages. We handle personal information in a manner consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
1. Information we collect
Depending on how you engage us, we may collect: your name; contact details (phone number, email address); job and postal addresses, including job-site addresses; details about the work you ask us to do and the items involved; communications you send us (messages, emails, voicemails and any photos you provide); and invoicing and payment-related details. When you interact with our Facebook or Instagram pages, posts, ads or messaging, we may receive information through Meta’s platforms, such as your name, the content of your messages, and your engagement with our content.
2. How we collect it
We collect personal information directly from you — for example when you request a quote or book a job by phone, SMS, email, our website, or social media. We may also receive information from third parties, such as corporate or commercial clients who engage us to carry out work at a site on their behalf.
3. How we use it
We use your personal information to: provide quotes and schedule and carry out jobs; confirm and manage your bookings; communicate with you about your job; issue invoices and process payments; follow up after a job; respond to enquiries you send via social media; keep business and tax records; and, where you have consented, send you offers or updates about our services. You can opt out of marketing communications at any time (see section 5).
4. Who we share it with
We use trusted third-party service providers to operate our business, and your information may be shared with them for the purposes described above. These include:
- Google — for calendar scheduling, email communication, and secure file storage and backups.
- Xero — for invoicing and accounting.
- Meta (Facebook & Instagram) — where you interact with our pages, ads or messaging.
- Our contractors — we share the job details necessary for them to carry out your job.
Some of these providers may store data on servers located outside Australia. We take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled appropriately. We do not sell your personal information.
5. Marketing and opting out
Where you have consented, we may contact you with offers or updates about our services. You can opt out at any time by replying “STOP” to a message, using an unsubscribe link, or contacting us using the details below.
6. How we protect your information
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access, including limiting access to authorised people and using encrypted backups. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your information.
7. How long we keep it
We keep your personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes set out in this policy and to meet our legal obligations. We are required by Australian law (including Australian Taxation Office record-keeping rules) to retain certain financial records, such as tax invoices, for at least five years.
8. Accessing, correcting or deleting your information
You can request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by contacting us using the details below. To request deletion, please see our Data Deletion page. Please note that some records may need to be retained to meet our legal obligations.
9. Cookies and website analytics
Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to help the site function, remember your preferences, and understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as intended if you do. If we run advertising through Facebook or Instagram, we may use Meta’s measurement tools (such as the Meta Pixel) to measure and improve those ads.
10. Children
Our services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
11. Complaints
If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first using the details below and we will work to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
